Job Summary: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized care for high-risk newborns in a Level IV Trauma Center with a Level III NICU, and the facility is recognized as an Accreta Center of Excellence and Advance Comprehensive Stroke Center. The registered nurse will work in a fast-paced environment caring for critically ill preterm and term infants requiring multi-system support.
Job Details:
Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: 2 years of NICU experience, current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications, Wisconsin state licensure or eligibility, providing care for high-risk newborns in a Level III NICU setting, and excellent assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high-risk, critically ill preterm and term newborns requiring multi-system support
Support on the Unit: 24/7 charge nurse, respiratory therapists, neonatologists, womens health director, NICU nurse manager and educator, lactation consultants, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, case management, pharmacy, dieticians, and chaplain services
Charting System/Equipment: EMR: EPIC, IV Pumps: Alaris, Med Dispensers: Pyxis, Angel Eye milk tracker, GE B450 cardiac monitor, Medela feeding pumps, Artic Sun cooling system
Floating: Float rotation may be required, with shelter in Women's Care Center for newborn care only
Orientation: First day meet with Nurse Manager and Nurse Educator, onsite training, scheduled preceptor shift, and work buddy assignment with your own patient assignment
Scheduling: Will be scheduled for weekend rotations, every other weekend, block and pattern schedules not guaranteed. Scheduled where needed; time off must be approved by the Nurse Manager. No call responsibilities. Holiday rotations every other based on start date.
Other Notes: Scrub color is flexible and professional; denim/camo are not permitted. Free parking is available in designated employee areas.
