Job Summary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Specialist, located at a healthcare facility, is responsible for providing specialized care to neonatal patients with conditions such as respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, and other critical illnesses. This position requires a dedicated professional to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality care over a 12-hour shift schedule.
Job Details
Position Description: Responsible for delivering comprehensive neonatal critical care, including the administration of vasopressors and sedation, to premature and critically ill infants. The role involves working in an environment with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:3, and managing advanced clinical situations with expertise in NICU protocols.
Required Qualifications: Active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license, 18 months of NICU or Neonatal Intensive Care experience, current BLS (American Heart Association or ARC) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications, ability to work the daytime shift for at least 36 hours per week, and availability to start on 10/26/2026 with a planned end date of 01/25/2027.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience utilizing vasopressors and sedation, familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system, and recent performance evaluations within the past 24 months.
Additional Information: The candidate must be able to work 1-2 winter holidays and potentially float to general pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Must have a valid drivers license, and references from supervisors or managers within the last 24 months are preferred.
