Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) registered nurses are needed in Oxnard, California. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to neonates across all gestational ages in a Level 3b NICU setting. The position offers an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, including preemies and critically ill newborns, with an emphasis on high-acuity neonatal care.
Job Details
Schedule: Twelve-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Every other weekend shift and holiday work in coordination with the permanent staff are required.
Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse, BLS Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, COVID vaccination, and a minimum of two years of NICU experience. Candidates must have Level 3 NICU experience, be comfortable attending deliveries, and have previous travel nursing experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Spanish-speaking skills and experience caring for premature infants, including cooling protocols with cooling therapy preferred.
Additional Information: The unit staff ratio is typically 1 to 1 or 1 to 3 if using feeder/grower beds. Competency in managing neonatal ventilators (Aveya, bubble CPAP, Vapotherm, oscillator) and the Cerner charting system is essential. The NICU takes care of patients requiring various ventilator support, including Aveya, bubble CPAP, Vapotherm, and oscillator. The role may require floating to labor and delivery or postpartum units to support neonatal care. Orientation includes 2-3 shifts, and the unit is supported by full-time in-house neonatologists on call.
