Qualifications
Required Skills
Safe administration of medications, including calculations
Adherence to the 5 rights of medication administration
Appropriate handling of expressed breast milk (EBM)
Care for patients with NG/OG tubes
Following feeding orders from Occupational Therapy/Speech Therapy
Care for patients on CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and Nasal Cannula
Management of PIVs, PICCs, UACs/UVCs
Safe care for patients 22 weeks and older
Understanding of all equipment used in the NICU
Promotion of safe sleeping practices for infants at 32-34 weeks gestation
Developmentally appropriate care techniques for preterm infants
Proficiency in lab draws
Adequate knowledge for escalating patient concerns
Knowledge of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) scoring
Preferred Skills
Experience with endotracheal tubes (ETT), ventilators, JETs, cooling procedures, and surgical patients
