Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level II NICU night shift position requiring NRP certification and prior travel experience.

Details

• Level II NICU setting caring for neonates across a range of gestational ages, including under 24-28 weeks and over 34 weeks
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:3
• May float to Baby Nurse unit as needed
• Cares for high-risk deliveries and provides Level I Nursery coverage as needed

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required
• BLS and NRP (or NRP Advanced) certifications required; STABLE certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of blood products
• Experience with neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure meds, antibiotics, steroids, and surfactants
• Competency in respiratory care including ventilator management, CPAP/BIPAP, and suctioning
• Experience with neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and sepsis workups
• Skilled in developmental care, phototherapy, and feeding management (bottle, breast, gavage)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and patient/family teaching
• Assists with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manages isolation precautions/PPE for infectious disease control
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• Former staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• First-time travelers may be considered if the 1-2 years of experience requirement is met
