Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to NICU patients including premature infants (as early as 22 weeks gestational age) and surgical infants with complex diagnoses such as hypoxic injury.
Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Servo Vents, HFOV, BCPAP, Ram NC, Tecotherm, Baby Leo, Giraffe, and Alaris IV pumps.
Perform and assist with special procedures including Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide therapy, UAC/UVC line management, Broviac, Trachs, GTT, and Ostomy care.
Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR communication frameworks.
Adhere to a self-scheduling model based on unit needs, including required weekend rotations (3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period).
Float as needed to Peds, PICU, or Nursery settings caring for infants up to and including 12 months of age.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level 3 or Level 4 Intensive Care Nursery (ICN/NICU).
Active RN license in NC or a Compact state.
Current BLS certification.
Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
Demonstrated experience with mechanical ventilation in a neonatal setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Familiarity with Med Fusion feeding pumps and PCL management.
Prior experience with EPIC electronic health records system.
Comfort with high-acuity neonatal patient ratios (1:2–4).
