Travel NICU Registered Nurse job in Seattle, Washington, caring for critically ill newborns and infants in a high-acuity Level III/IV neonatal intensive care unit. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,850–$1,950

- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; 36 hours per week
- Unit: 77-bed Level III/IV NICU with an average census of approximately 50
- Patient Population: Neonates and infants, including extremely premature newborns
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Weekend Coverage: Intermittent weekend coverage may be required
- Floating: Occasional floating to nearby neonatal, pediatric, or newborn units may be required based on staffing needs
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be active and in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 3 years of recent NICU Registered Nurse experience
- Level III or Level IV NICU experience caring for neonates as young as 23–24 weeks gestation
- Current BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with ventilator management, including AC/PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Experience with high-frequency ventilation and oscillators
- Competency with blood and blood product administration, PICC and central line care, feeding tubes, syringe pumps, and therapeutic hypothermia
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Ability to support intermittent weekend coverage and work three of five designated winter holidays when scheduled
- Two professional references covering at least one year of recent employment experience
NICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide specialized, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants in a high-acuity neonatal intensive care unit
- Manage complex respiratory needs, including CPAP, BiPAP, conventional ventilation, high-frequency ventilation, and oscillators
- Administer blood and blood products while maintaining rigorous safety and monitoring standards
- Perform and support care involving PICC lines, central lines, feeding tubes, syringe pumps, and cooling or warming blankets
- Attend high-risk deliveries and provide stabilization and ongoing care for premature and medically complex newborns
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary partners during neonatal surgeries and critical care interventions
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, and support cardioversion or defibrillation when clinically indicated
- Float to nearby neonatal, pediatric, or newborn units when needed, caring only for patients within demonstrated competency
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to a safe, compassionate experience for infants and their families
