NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Level II Nursery Travel Nursing Contract in Hagerstown, Maryland

  • Assignment End Date: January 18, 2027
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Nursing Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; some holiday coverage may be required
  • Call: Not required
  • Scheduling: Block scheduling may be accommodated
  • Floating: Within scope to the well-baby unit as needed

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Maryland
  • At least 1 year of recent NICU or Level II Nursery nursing experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience caring for neonates, including infants born at approximately 29–34 weeks
  • Experience working with an approximate 1:4 patient ratio
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current NRP certification
  • Epic charting and electronic medical record experience required
  • Ability to provide neonatal care in a Level II setting and float to well-baby patients within scope
  • COVID-19 and influenza vaccination required

Neonatal Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to premature and medically complex neonates in a Level II Nursery
  • Monitor and care for infants with respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, hypoglycemia, and feeding or growth concerns
  • Support stabilization and preparation of neonates requiring transport to a tertiary care center
  • Manage enteral feedings, bottle feeding, breastfeeding support, gavage feeding, and pasteurized donor milk
  • Provide care involving bubble CPAP, oxygen delivery systems, phototherapy, antibiotics, steroids, surfactants, and IV vasopressors
  • Perform and assist with umbilical arterial and venous catheter care, central-line management, and implanted-line care
  • Apply isolation precautions and use appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Document patient assessments, nursing interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
  • Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the neonatal care team
  • Float to the well-baby unit when needed while maintaining safe, evidence-based nursing care practices
