Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring a VA or compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts weekly, 19:00-7:00
• NICU III/IV level unit caring for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
• Requires use of Epic charting system
• Floating within scope required if needed
• Locals accepted at the same base rate with no radius restrictions

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• BSN preferred; diploma and Associate's degree accepted from ACEN or CCNE accredited programs
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required with no exceptions
• Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC, and administration of blood products
• Skilled in neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, and neonatal dosage calculations
• Experience with respiratory care including ventilator management, HFNC, and oxygen delivery systems
• Experience with GI care including feeding management and NEC
• 2 professional references from supervisor level or above required
• Skills checklist and current license verification required for consideration

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, GI, and neurologic support
• Support developmental care practices and patient/family teaching
• Facility maintains a natural nail policy for all clinical staff
• Drug and tobacco free workplace; smoking not permitted on campus
• Time-off requests must be submitted upfront for manager approval; no time off granted during the first week of assignment
• Both travelers and permanent staff must wait one year before returning to the facility in a traveler role
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position; prior travel nursing experience is required
