Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN for a Level IV NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience, including 1 year at a Level IV facility, and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the NICU of a pediatric hospital with a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU designation
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00pm-7:30am, Monday through Friday with 2-3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
  • Patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
  • Cares for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Floating required as needed

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required (AHA only)
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years total NICU III/IV experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
  • Prior travel experience required, with preference for at least one completed Level IV NICU travel assignment
  • Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
  • Experience with post-op patients, g-tubes, and trach/vent management required
  • Experience with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria on adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
  • All references must be removed from submission

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care to critically ill neonates including IV therapy, blood product administration, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Manage umbilical artery and umbilical vein catheters (UAC/UVC)
  • Administer emergency medications, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, and antivirals
  • Support respiratory care including ventilator management, high flow nasal cannula, and suctioning
  • Provide developmental care and support patient/family teaching including breastfeeding support
  • Manage neonatal conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal sepsis, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Work within a Magnet-designated facility recognized for specialized pediatric medical and surgical care
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • First-time travelers with Level IV NICU experience will be considered
