Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level III NICU with a minimum of two years of acute care experience and NRP/STABLE certification requirements.

Details

  • Level III Neonatal ICU setting within a hospital environment
  • Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Patient population includes neonates under 24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and over 34 weeks gestation
  • Attends high-risk deliveries
  • May float to Pediatrics if needed
  • Primary floating facility is West Valley Hospital, approximately 15 minutes away
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered Oregon RN license required
  • Oregon OR RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • NRP certification required within 90 days of start
  • STABLE certification required within 12 months of start
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Minimum of two years acute care NICU RN experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of blood products
  • Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and emergency medications including vasopressors, anti-seizure medications, and surfactants
  • Experience with respiratory support including CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and ventilator management
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and NAS/seizure disorder care
  • Experience with breastfeeding support, gavage feeding, and NEC management
  • Experience with phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and insulin administration
  • Knowledge of dysrhythmia interpretation and neonatal sepsis management
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills required
  • Strong communication, organizational, delegation, and team leadership skills required

Additional Information

  • Provides family-centered nursing care to neonates using knowledge of neonatal growth, development, and pathophysiology
  • Assesses, plans, teaches, intervenes, and evaluates care specific to the neonatal population
  • Assists with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manages specialized equipment for this patient population
  • Collaborates with interpretive services as needed
  • Required to complete up to 8 hours of non-billable training modules prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Former Salem Health employees must wait six months from their termination date before being eligible for travel assignments
  • RTO must be finalized prior to consideration for the position
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they have NICU Level III experience
