Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Details

  • Level III NICU in an acute care hospital averaging 190 births per month
  • 212 staffed beds facility
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:00 AM-6:30 PM
  • Friday-Sunday weekend block schedule required
  • Weekends may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs
  • No floating between unlike units required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Free parking available

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS and NRP Advanced (or willing to obtain advanced NRP before start)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
  • Candidates with Level IV NICU experience may be considered with less than 2 years of overall RN experience
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Prior travel experience required, though candidates with 2+ years of NICU experience may be considered without travel experience
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and UAC/UVC required
  • Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and administration of anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and steroids required
  • Skills in APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, and neonatal abstinence syndrome management required
  • Respiratory skills required including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, ventilator management, and suctioning
  • Experience with neonates across gestational ranges, including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-risk neonates including high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, and management of NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and neonatal sepsis
  • Attend high-risk deliveries as part of unit responsibilities
  • Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
  • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted facility
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All requested time off must be submitted upfront during the application process
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position unless they have 2+ years of NICU experience
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel nurse and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • Pre-start and annual completion of training modules required, averaging 16 hours
