Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III/IV NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Details

  • Level IV NICU open bay unit at a teaching hospital
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required, most likely Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Floating to pediatric units for patients under 1 year of age, and to other UCSF units and facilities as needed within a 75+ mile radius
  • Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at time of submission
  • BSN required
  • AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
  • NRP certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Level III/IV NICU required
  • PICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
  • Skilled in IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, central line care, and UAC/UVC management
  • Experience with neonatal medications including anti-seizure, antibiotic, antiviral, and vasopressor administration, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Experience with respiratory care including bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ventilator management, and oxygen delivery systems
  • Experience with neonatal GI care including feedings, tube placement/management, and ostomy care
  • Experience with developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, and infectious disease precautions
  • Experience caring for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level IV open bay NICU setting
  • Accepts local candidates at the same rate as travel candidates
  • Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
  • Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit, and married couples may not work on the same unit
  • RTO must be disclosed at time of submission and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract and no RTO allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment
