Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night shift acute care hospital assignment requiring at least 3 years of NICU experience and current CA RN license.

Details

• Level III Neonatal ICU setting within an acute care hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Weekend shifts required
• On-call responsibilities required
• Uses Epic charting system
• May be required to float between sister facilities

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required, compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum of 3 years of Level III NICU experience required
• Required Epic EMR experience
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line blood draws, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience with UAC and UVC catheter care
• Proficient in neonatal dosage calculations and administration of antibiotics, antivirals, and steroids
• Experience with surfactant administration
• Skilled in APGAR scoring, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
• Experience attending high-risk deliveries
• Competency in blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia
• Experience with feeding methods including bottle, breast, and gavage, and placement of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
• Skilled in respiratory care including Bubble CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and management of chest tubes
• Experience with meconium aspiration and respiratory distress syndrome care
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and neonatal sepsis workups
• Experience caring for neonates 29-34 weeks gestation
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill neonates including high-risk deliveries and specialized respiratory and feeding support
• Facility does not accept local candidates for this position
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and cannot be within 50 miles of the facility
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration, with approval based on facility need
• Royal or navy blue scrubs required for RNs
