Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neonatal/Pediatric Transport position requiring OR and WA/Compact RN licensure along with prior flight or mobile transport experience.

Details

  • Work within the NICU/PICU transport team at a children's hospital, providing mobile neonatal and pediatric critical care transport
  • Transport team consists of one RN and one RT per shift, transporting patients from outside facilities requiring a higher level of care
  • Transports guided by physician oversight across facilities throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington
  • Travel to and from destinations by ground, air, or rotor-wing transport
  • Utilizes Epic charting system
  • 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
  • Weekend requirement of at least every 3rd weekend, with occasional additional weekend shifts as needed
  • Flight training provided during orientation through a contracted vendor

Requirements

  • Active OR RN license and WA/Compact RN license required prior to starting (90-day temporary OR license available upon request if needed)
  • Active BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a fully oriented, working neonatal/pediatric transport RN with strong NICU/PICU skills required
  • Prior flight and/or mobile transport experience required for interview consideration
  • 2+ years of pediatric transport RN experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Level I trauma experience preferred
  • Skilled in respiratory care including ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and intubation assistance
  • Experience with arterial line and central line management, IV therapy, and phlebotomy
  • Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Knowledge of pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
  • Experience with UVC/UAC placement and intubation

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care transport for neonatal and pediatric patients between outside facilities and the receiving children's hospital
  • Complete flight training as part of orientation through a contracted vendor, similar to training required for permanent transport team staff
  • Scrub color may be any color except black or camo, unless a specialty-specific scrub is provided
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible
  • Former staff must be separated from the facility/system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are not specified as excluded, but strong recent transport and NICU/PICU experience is required for consideration
