Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN for a Level III nursery position requiring at least 3 years of NICU experience with newborn resuscitation skills.

Details

• Level 2 nursery within an LDR unit with 6 beds
• Neonatal patient population greater than 34 weeks gestation
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
• Weekend requirements apply unless otherwise noted on posted schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Floats within hospital to attend vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections as baby nurse when nursery is not open
• No floating to sister hospitals
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
• Newborn resuscitation skills required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Experience attending high-risk deliveries as baby nurse required
• CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula experience required
• IV start and maintenance skills required
• Experience with UAC and UVC required
• Experience administering neonatal medications including antibiotics, antivirals, steroids, and surfactants required
• Skilled in APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal dosage calculations
• Experience with phototherapy and blood glucose monitoring required
• Experience with neonatal sepsis workup and isolation precautions required
• Experience with tube feedings and placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU setting, including high-risk delivery attendance as baby nurse
• Support breastfeeding and handling of breast milk for NICU families
• Assist with lumbar punctures and manage neonatal abstinence syndrome cases
• Work within a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level 4 trauma designation
• Maximum RTO of 1 week during the assignment
• RTO cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
