NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Level III NICU nursing experience
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Ability to provide safe, compassionate nursing care for critically ill and medically complex neonates
  • Flexibility to float to age-appropriate pediatric or PICU assignments when needed
  • Ability to meet the unit dress code of Caribbean blue scrubs

NICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care to newborns and infants in a Level II NICU environment.
  • Assess patient conditions, monitor clinical changes, and implement individualized nursing care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely using established protocols and Pyxis medication systems.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in Epic.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Support parents and families through education, communication, and compassionate bedside care.
  • Maintain neonatal safety, infection-prevention, and quality-care standards.
  • Float to appropriate pediatric or PICU assignments according to department needs and demonstrated competency.
