  • Float: Yes, within the hospital
  • Holiday Commitment: Must be available for at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays

NICU Registered Nurse Requirements

  • 2+ years of Level IV NICU experience required
  • BSN required
  • Current RN license required; pending license may be considered if submitted to the licensing board
  • AHA BLS and NRP required
  • PALS and STABLE preferred
  • Epic experience required
  • Comfort with high-acuity neonatal care, including bubble CPAP, ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and PA lines
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative acute care environment
  • Must be willing to float within the hospital as needed
  • References and recent work history verification required

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill, convalescing, premature, and term newborns in a Level IV NICU
  • Monitor patients using evidence-based neonatal nursing practices and respond quickly to changes in condition
  • Support respiratory and advanced neonatal therapies, including HFOV and conventional ventilation
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary support teams to deliver family-centered care
  • Safely manage surgical patients, tracheostomy patients, and other complex neonatal cases
  • Document care accurately in Epic and maintain strong communication with the care team
  • Participate in unit-based workflow, floating assignments, and holiday/weekend coverage
  • Help create a supportive environment for families while maintaining the highest standards of neonatal nursing care
