NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Healthcare Setting: Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Patient Population: Neonates, including infants from 22 weeks gestation and above
- Average Daily Census: Approximately 30 patients
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent NICU nursing experience; Level III or Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
- Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at submission
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Experience caring for neonates younger than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Proficiency with Epic documentation and neonatal medication administration
- Ability to interpret and manage cardiovascular dysrhythmias
- Two professional references, including at least one supervisor, manager, director, or other formal leader
- Willingness to float to related units as needed
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
NICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates
- Manage respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, metabolic, and infectious disease needs
- Administer and monitor IV vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, and other neonatal medications
- Manage ventilator settings and respiratory support, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Provide arterial line, umbilical artery catheter, umbilical vein catheter, central line, and implanted line care
- Support feeding plans, including bottle, breast, gavage, oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal feeding methods
- Provide care for neonates experiencing neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Apply infection prevention practices and appropriate isolation precautions
- Use SBAR communication to coordinate care with providers, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, interpretation services, and unit support staff
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
