Travel Nursing Job Details
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nurse assignment
- Location: Columbus, Ohio

- End Date: February 15, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160-$2,270
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Healthcare Setting: Level III NICU
- Patient Population: Neonates, including premature infants and patients requiring advanced respiratory, cardiac, surgical, and gastrointestinal care
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Additional Scheduling Note: May float to other units within the health system as needed
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, including experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Demonstrated competency caring for neonates weighing less than 24-28 weeks gestation
- Experience with ventilator management, including AC/PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Proficiency with arterial lines, umbilical artery catheters, umbilical venous catheters, central lines, and implanted line care
- Knowledge of neonatal dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with IV therapy, vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, feeding methods, and oral, nasogastric, or nasojejunal tubes
- Ability to apply isolation precautions and personal protective equipment standards
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU
- Assess, monitor, and manage respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, metabolic, and infectious conditions
- Manage ventilators and respond appropriately to changes in neonatal respiratory status
- Administer medications and therapies, including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids, using established medication-safety procedures
- Perform and monitor arterial line, UAC, UVC, central line, and implanted line care
- Support neonatal feeding plans, including bottle, breast, gavage, oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal feeding
- Provide care for neonates experiencing neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and other changes in patient condition
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
- Use SBAR communication to collaborate effectively with providers, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Work closely with advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, interpretation services, social services, and unit support staff
- Promote infection prevention, family-centered care, patient safety, and continuity of care
- Float to other units within the health system when clinical needs require
