NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Level III NICU Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Assignment: 13-week NICU travel nursing contract
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- End Date: February 15, 2027
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week
- Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Unit: Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Patient Population: Neonates, including infants as early as 22 weeks gestation
- Typical Census: Approximately 30 patients
- Floating: May be required to float to other units within the healthcare system as needed

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent NICU nursing experience; Level III or Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) documentation experience preferred
- Two professional references required, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Willingness to complete Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements promptly
- Ability to provide required flu vaccination documentation or an approved medical exemption
NICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care to premature and critically ill neonates, including infants less than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Manage neonatal respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, glucose, and infectious conditions
- Monitor and adjust ventilator support, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP modes, within the RN scope of practice
- Administer and monitor IV medications such as vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids using safe medication practices
- Perform arterial line management, central and implanted line care, and umbilical artery and vein catheter care
- Support neonatal feeding plans, including bottle, breast, gavage, oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal feeding methods
- Provide care for neonates experiencing neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Interpret and respond to cardiovascular dysrhythmias and changes in patient condition
- Apply infection prevention practices, isolation precautions, and appropriate personal protective equipment
- Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate clinical updates using SBAR
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the care team
- Educate and support families while delivering safe, compassionate, evidence-based neonatal care
