Description

American Traveler is seeking a NICU RN for a Level II Special Care Nursery position requiring BSN, NRP certification, and IL RN licensure.

Details

• 12-week assignment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU II)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 30-minute meal break
• Care for neonates 29-34 weeks gestation
• Preference for candidates able to work both SCN and mom/baby postpartum couplet care
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Occasional floating to other units or facilities within the health system may be required upon manager request

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in hand required (no emergency or pending licenses accepted)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• BLS certification through AHA required
• NRP certification required
• Minimum 1 year of direct NICU experience required
• Experience with any electronic charting system required
• Skills checklist and 2 professional references required, with one from a Supervisor, Manager, or Charge RN within the last year

Additional Information

• Provide specialized nursing care to neonates including gastrointestinal, respiratory, and neurologic support
• Perform feedings via bottle, breast, and gavage, and support breastfeeding and breast milk handling
• Manage IV therapy, central/implanted line care, UAC, and UVC
• Administer medications including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
• Provide isolation precautions and PPE compliance for infectious disease cases
• Care for infants with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
• Utilize respiratory equipment such as Bubble CPAP and oxygen delivery systems
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• All requested time off must be submitted with application and cannot be added afterward
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• First-time travelers may be considered
