Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level 4 NICU RN for night shifts at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring BSN and 2+ years of Level 4 NICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a 46-bed Level 4 Neonatal ICU providing family-centered care to critically ill, convalescing, and growing premature and term newborns
  • Unit receives admissions from the hospital's high-risk perinatal department as well as transports from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Hawaii
  • Access to specialists in endocrine, pulmonary, genetics, renal, metabolic, ophthalmology, neurology, general pediatric surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital; no floating to sister hospitals
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active OR RN license (pending license accepted if application has been submitted to licensing board)
  • BSN required
  • Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, NRP
  • Preferred certifications: PALS, STABLE
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Preferred experience: charge RN, teaching hospital, Trauma Level I
  • Clinical skills required: respiratory care, bubble CPAP, tracheostomy care/management, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Preferred skill: PA lines
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
  • COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

  • Nurses participate in the education of students and pediatric residents at this teaching hospital
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • Must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
  • Scrubs are provided for OR use; no prints allowed for standard scrubs
  • First-time travelers accepted only with 3+ years of experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
  • RTO must be submitted upfront and cannot exceed 2 weeks
  • Former OHSU employees or travelers must have been gone at least 6 months to be eligible to return, and require a reference from their previous OHSU manager
  • Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
