Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level III unit requiring NJ or compact licensure and 2+ years of neonatal intensive care experience.

Details

• Level III NICU within a quaternary care teaching hospital
• Care for neonatal abstinence syndrome and neurologic patients, including neonates 29–34 weeks and >34 weeks
• Will not attend high-risk deliveries or be assigned Level IV, ECMO, or fresh post-op patients
• Patient ratios of 1:1-3, with 1:4 in the IMCU
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend (Sat/Sun) required, subject to change based on unit needs
• Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
• Floating required to NBN, Peds, and PICU based on skillset, patient volume, and acuity
• Charting done in EPIC and Crib Notes

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• 2+ years of NICU experience required
• Experience with blood product administration, IV starts/maintenance, and neonatal dosage calculations
• Medication management experience including anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics/antivirals, and steroids
• Cardiovascular monitoring and telemetry experience
• Experience with ventilators, intubated patients, HFNC, and oxygen delivery systems
• Experience managing respiratory distress in neonates
• Breastfeeding support and colostomy/ileostomy care experience
• Enteral feeding and tube placement experience
• Glucose monitoring and insulin administration experience
• Experience managing hyperbilirubinemia and phototherapy
• Developmental care and patient/family teaching experience
• Infection control and isolation precautions experience
• Sepsis workup experience
• EPIC charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
