Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN for a night shift position requiring CA licensure, NRP certification, and Level III/IV NICU experience.

Details

• Work in the NICU of an acute care hospital setting
• Cares for neonates ranging from <24-28 weeks to >34 weeks gestation
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Attends high-risk deliveries
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Voluntary call required
• Floating as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• NRP certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
• Charge and high-risk delivery experience strongly preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, central line care and blood draw, starting and maintaining IVs, UAC/UVC management, neonatal dosage calculations, and administration of emergency medications, antibiotics, antivirals, and anti-seizure medications
• Proficiency in APGAR scoring, developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, and phototherapy required
• Respiratory skills required include bubble CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, oxygen delivery systems, suctioning, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Experience with blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and management of feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, neonatal sepsis, and sepsis work-up required
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required with no exceptions
• Copies of all current certifications required for consideration

• Provides holistic, individualized nursing care including assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of care for neonatal patients
• Develops and implements an individualized plan of care incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors
• Delivers patient and family education and supports transitions of care
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the local rate
• Local candidates accepted at the local rate
• Returning employees/travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning to this facility as a traveler
• Maximum RTO is 7 days per contract
• Only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Lab work must be completed within 3-5 days of contract signing
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
• All compliance documents due 10 days prior to start
