Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of Level III NICU experience and specialized neonatal critical care skills.

Details

• Level III/IV NICU setting
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 13 or 26 week assignment options available
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and NRP certifications required (NRP must be in-hand at time of consideration)
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending, cost of $200)
• Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skills required: neurologic assessment, assisting with lumbar puncture, therapeutic hypothermia/cooling blanket, IV therapy, central/implanted line care, starting and maintaining IVs, UAC/UVC management, colostomy/ileostomy care, post-abdominal surgery care, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, high frequency ventilation, chest tube management, nitric oxide (iNO) therapy, tracheostomy care, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), IV vasopressor administration, neonatal dosage calculations, and phlebotomy
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neonatal patients in a Level III/IV NICU
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• No radius rule for this position
• Local candidates accepted
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract
• Time off cannot be approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Time off is not approved around the Christmas holiday period
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must disclose employment history; permanent staff/internal travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
