Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring a CA RN license, NRP certification, and prior NICU experience.

Details

  • Level III NICU setting caring for surgical neonates from 23 weeks gestation and up
  • Patient population includes neonates less than 24-28 weeks with cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, infectious disease, neurologic, and respiratory needs
  • Unit performs cooling therapy, all respiratory modes, PICC lines, bronchoscopy, LISA, VCUG, MRI, swallow studies, and line insertion procedures
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float to peds, PICU, and nursery as needed
  • Charting system experience required (any EMR)

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Experience with arterial line management, central/implanted line care, UAC, and UVC
  • Experience administering IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with neonatal feeding methods and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement and management
  • Experience caring for neonatal abstinence syndrome patients
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU environment
  • Manage complex respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological care needs for premature and surgical neonates
  • Local candidates accepted at the local rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Returning travelers must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday off approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Must be available to complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
