Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 18 months of NICU experience and current NRP certification for a 13-week travel assignment.

Details

• Community hospital NICU III/IV setting caring for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to greater than 34 weeks gestation
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (6:00 AM-6:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within scope of practice, within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Also cares for Mother/Baby and Pediatrics patients

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Minimum 1.5 years of NICU experience required
• BLS and NRP (or NRP Advanced) certification required; STABLE certification preferred
• Community hospital experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC care, central line care, and administration of blood products and emergency medications
• Experience with ventilator management, high frequency ventilation, and other advanced respiratory support skills required
• Graduated from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries, neonatal dosage calculations, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
• Skilled care encompasses respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, endocrine/metabolic, neurologic, and infectious disease needs of neonatal patients
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing in Indiana are not accepted for this position
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
