Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring Level III NICU and PICU experience with EPIC charting proficiency.

Details

• NICU-based float pool position within a Level III NICU
• Floating required without exception to PICU, Peds, and NBN based on skill set
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-8:00)
• 37.5 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios vary based on unit, acuity, census and staffing (typically 1:1-3)
• Cares for neonates as young as 24-28 weeks gestation
• EPIC charting system required

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience required, with documented NICU Level III and PICU experience
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, A-line management, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
• Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Ventilator management experience required (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Experience with feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
• Experience managing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

• Work within a 56-bed Level III NICU that is a Regional Perinatal Center caring for more than 1,200 premature and ill newborns annually
• PICU provides comprehensive medical and surgical care with full-time pediatric critical care physicians and subspecialists
• Part of a 597-bed teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
• Part of New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare system
• Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Scrub requirement: Navy pants with Peds top
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Former employees of this health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
