Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with at least 2 years of acute care Level III NICU experience for a night shift assignment requiring an active Oregon RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a hospital setting
  • Level III NICU caring for neonates ranging from less than 24-28 weeks to greater than 34 weeks gestation
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Epic charting system preferred
  • May be required to float to Pediatrics or to West Valley Hospital, approximately 15 minutes away
  • 13-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered Oregon RN license required
  • Current BLS certification (AHA) required
  • NRP certification required within 90 days of start
  • STABLE certification required within 12 months of start
  • PALS and NRP Advanced certifications preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years acute care Level III NICU RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in procedures and equipment specific to the neonatal population, including UAC/UVC lines, arterial lines, and central line care
  • Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oscillators
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and neonatal abstinence syndrome care preferred
  • Strong communication, delegation, and team leadership skills required
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and use professional judgment in emergencies

Additional Information

  • Provide family-centered nursing care to neonatal patients using the nursing process to ensure safety and stability
  • Responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries, administering medications, and providing developmental and thermoregulation care
  • Perform procedures such as phlebotomy, APGAR scoring, and assistance with lumbar punctures
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and Interpretive Services as needed
  • Candidates with NICU Level III experience may be considered even without prior travel experience
  • Former Salem Health employees must wait six months from their termination date before being eligible for a new travel assignment
  • Up to 8 hours of required training modules may be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
