Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years NICU experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

  • ,es supportetsionsic patients requrequ42-bed unit within a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • ,Care for high-risk preterm and term newborns requiring multi-system support
  • Patients requiring respiratory support including including nasal cannula, CPAP, NAVA, conventional andventilation, oscillator ventilation, and nitric oxide
  • ,ses central lines including PICC, UAC, UVC, arterial line, Broviac, and chest tubes
  • .Provides NG/PO feedings, IV therapy, maintenance fluids, vasopressor support, sedation and paralytics, video EEG, and cooling
  • .Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3, following AWHONN staffing standards
  • .12-hour day shifts from 0700-1930, totaling 48 hours per week
  • .Weekend rotation required every other weekend, with no guaranteed block or pattern scheduling
  • No on-call requirements
  • .Floating required as needed to Women's Care Center, postpartum, or L&D for newborn care only, with travelers floated first
  • .Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
  • .Unit equipment includes Angel Eye milk tracker, GE B450 cardiac monitoring, Medela feeding pumps, and Artic Sun cooling system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
  • .Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
  • .Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience required, with no exceptions
  • .Strong skills in assessment/reassessment, IV therapy, medication administration, and NG/PO feedings
  • .Ability to collaborate with ancillary departments and families to provide exceptional infant care
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • .Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • .At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
  • .Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for travel assignments

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized nursing care to high-risk, critically ill preterm and term newborns requiring multi-system support
  • .Collaborate with a robust support team including 24/7 charge nurse, respiratory therapy, neonatologist, and house supervisor
  • .Additional support available from Women's Health Director, NICU Nurse Manager, NICU Nurse Educator, lactation consultants, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, case management, pharmacy, dietician, and chaplain
  • .Structured orientation includes meeting with Nurse Manager and Nurse Educator on day one, preceptor training on day two, and an assigned work buddy with own patient assignment by day three
  • .Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis depending on start date
  • .Scrubs may be any professional color; denim and camo patterns are not permitted
  • .Free parking provided in designated employee areas
  • .First-time travelers may be considered pending manager approval
  • No radius restrictions apply, and local candidates are accepted at the same rate
