- Proficiency in operating gamma cameras and other nuclear medicine equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in documentation and record-keeping
- Commitment to radiation safety practices and compliance with regulatory standards
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team
Description:
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
Operate sophisticated imaging equipment such as gamma cameras.
Analyze the resulting images to assist physicians in diagnosing illnesses.
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Provide compassionate care and support to patients throughout the nuclear medicine procedures.
Address any patient concerns or discomforts and ensure their safety and well-being during the imaging process.
Radiopharmaceutical Administration, Imaging Procedures, and Image Analysis:
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed protocols and guidelines.
Ensure proper dosage and injection technique to optimize imaging results.
Operate gamma cameras and other specialized imaging equipment to capture images of radioactive tracers within the patient's body.
Follow established protocols for image acquisition and processing.
Analyze nuclear medicine images to identify abnormalities or areas of interest.
Collaborate with radiologists and physicians to interpret findings and assist in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
Clienttion Safety:
Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.
Maintain accurate records of radiation doses administered and monitor radiation levels in work areas.
Quality Control and Documentation/Reporting:
Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
Troubleshoot technical issues as needed and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel.
Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, including patient information, radiopharmaceutical doses administered, imaging parameters, and image interpretations.
Generate accurate reports for inclusion in patient medical records.
Education:
Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology, procedures, and safety regulations through ongoing education and professional development activities.
Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Participate in the orientation of staff.
