Certifications:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required
- Venipuncture certification required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required
Description:
Administers radiopharmaceuticals or radiation intravenously to detect or treat diseases.
Utilizes radioisotope equipment for medical imaging and procedures.
Performs screening procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
Coordinates patient flow and maintains procedure quality control.
Prepares, administers, and measures radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies.
Calculates doses to be administered by radiologists.
Executes blood volume, red cell survival, and fat absorption studies.
Administers intravenous injections following established procedures.
Documents all pertinent information regarding radioactive materials.
Obtains pertinent patient information and disseminates preparation instructions.
Elevates questions and challenges to senior staff for direction.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
All associates are required to receive necessary vaccinations as a condition of employment.
This department performs procedures with radioactive pharmaceuticals, including PET and SPECT scans.
Responsible for pre-procedure and post-procedure care.
