Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist Profession: Nuclear Medicine Technician Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: M-F Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: 2 years of post-program graduate experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist License: State Certified Technologist in Nuclear Medicine, including venipuncture Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Must-Have: One of the following primary certifications: - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology Description: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist functions as a Scientific Technologist. This position requires full training and self-reliance in routine nuclear medicine techniques. The technologist enhances the department by providing optimal exams and procedures. The role involves close collaboration with the Nuclear Medicine Physician. Duties include performing diagnostic imaging, analyzing biological specimens, and assisting with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities involve preparing radiopharmaceuticals and administering them to patients. The technologist will utilize imaging devices to record the distribution within a patient's body. Patient safety protocols and compliance with federal, state, local, and regulatory agency requirements are essential. Participation in continuous quality improvement activities is also expected. A graduate from an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or an Associate's Degree in a related field is required. A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred. Additional post-primary advanced certification is preferred.
