Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for exams in accordance with department procedure manuals and applicable regulations.
Perform quality control on all nuclear cameras prior to imaging patients and conduct radiation detection surveys and wipes; decontaminate as appropriate.
Position patients, select appropriate imaging techniques, and produce diagnostic images while recognizing and correcting technical abnormalities.
Document all information accurately in the electronic Nuclear Medicine Information System and ensure all images are sent to PACS.
Adhere to radiation safety protocols following ALARA principles and comply with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations and biohazard safety standards.
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and staff to coordinate scheduling, patient care, and department operations; participate in on-call and weekend rotations as required.
Required Qualifications
Active certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Nuclear Medicine (ARRT RT-N) required.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only required.
Bachelor's degree and graduation from a formal Nuclear Medicine training program required.
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a hospital-based setting.
Proficiency with Epic EMR.
Flu vaccination required for assignment periods from November 1 through April 1; client-approved declinations/exemptions only.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience performing radiopharmaceutical quality control and computer processing of nuclear medicine data.
Familiarity with PACS systems and electronic Nuclear Medicine Information Systems.
Strong communication skills with the ability to handle complex clinical situations and function effectively as a team player.
