Description: THIS IS FOR A NUC MED TECHNOLOGISTJOB DESCRIPTION Location/locations: Grosse Pointe Hospital - 468 Cadieux Rd, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230Shift Time: PRN Shift length: Variable Weekend rotation: As NeededRequired Certifications: NMTCB; BLSScrub Color: Royal Blue Job Summary The NMT performs both imaging and non-imaging procedures on patients and/or patient samples using radioactive tracers. The NMT is responsible for the safe and correct handling of radioactive materials, the care and operation of radiation detection equipment, knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures, the appropriate computer analysis to generate a patient result, and patient care. A NMT uses specific age and culture-related physical, intellectual psychosocial and developmental attributes in assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Follows Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times. Essential Functions Performs and processes all Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures by adapting protocols to patient conditions while exhibiting hospital established customer service behaviors. Prepares and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols with adherence to nuclear regulatory guidelines. Performs quality control checks on radiation detection equipment and associated patient care equipment. Meets all requirements for compliance and proper documentation of information related to patient care. Teaches specific anatomy, physiology and clinical protocols at the clinical level for nuclear medicine students while still maintaining clinical patient care responsibilities. Actively supervises and trains Nuclear Medicine students as they rotate through the department. Continuing education credits and all competencies for patient care are maintained. Teaching of Nuclear Medicine principles to all who interact with patient care is an on-going process. Research responsibility for all current projects in the department is expected. Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Associate's Degree Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program. 1 year of relevant experience 1-3 years experience beyond staff radiographer level.
