Key Responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Participate in all Radiology Management Systems functions related to patient procedures
  • Maintain adequate radiation safety practices for patients and co-workers
  • Provide patient education and maintain necessary documentation for licensing
  • Develop effective communication with physicians, radiologists, and departments
  • Perform a broad range of diagnostic imaging procedures including SPECT and SPECT/CT
  • Prepare image data for interpretation and ensure proper documentation
  • Order, return, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals according to regulations
  • Perform quality control procedures and document results
  • Start and manage intravenous catheter lines for radioisotope injection
  • Comply with hospital safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies

Requirements of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • NYS Radiologic Technologist license in Nuclear Medicine
  • NMTCB or ARRT(N) Certification
  • BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
  • Associate's degree in applied science in Nuclear Medicine
  • Proficiency in operating General Electric Nuclear Medicine cameras and related equipment
  • Strong skills in attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving
