Key Responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Participate in all Radiology Management Systems functions related to patient procedures
Maintain adequate radiation safety practices for patients and co-workers
Provide patient education and maintain necessary documentation for licensing
Develop effective communication with physicians, radiologists, and departments
Perform a broad range of diagnostic imaging procedures including SPECT and SPECT/CT
Prepare image data for interpretation and ensure proper documentation
Order, return, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals according to regulations
Perform quality control procedures and document results
Start and manage intravenous catheter lines for radioisotope injection
Comply with hospital safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies

Requirements of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist

NYS Radiologic Technologist license in Nuclear Medicine
NMTCB or ARRT(N) Certification
BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
Associate's degree in applied science in Nuclear Medicine
Proficiency in operating General Electric Nuclear Medicine cameras and related equipment
Strong skills in attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving
