Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment on an Acute Medicine Unit in Atlanta, Georgia. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients within a dynamic medical-surgical environment, focusing on patient safety, quality outcomes, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Acute Medicine Unit specializes in the care of patients with a wide range of medical conditions, requiring skilled assessment, intervention, and ongoing monitoring. The successful candidate will manage patient caseloads, administer medications, perform treatments, and educate patients and their families on health management and recovery.

This is a 16-week contract position for a travel nurse, offering an opportunity to contribute your expertise to a vital healthcare team while experiencing the vibrant city of Atlanta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients on the Acute Medicine Unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, interpret diagnostic data, and recognize changes in patient condition, reporting critical findings promptly.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medication regimens, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical or Acute Medicine Unit setting.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.

Shift Details

  • Shift Type: Nights (NOC)
  • Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Days per Week: 3 days (36 hours/week)
  • Schedule: Monday - Sunday rotation, including weekends as scheduled.
  • Call Requirements: Not specified.
  • Holiday Requirements: Must work two (2) major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and one (1) minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve).
  • Contract Length: 16 weeks
  • Assignment Dates: September 21, 2026 - January 9, 2027

Licensing Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
