Job Summary

This is an exciting 13-week travel assignment for a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical care within an Acute Medicine Unit in Atlanta, Georgia. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to a diverse adult patient population experiencing a wide range of acute medical conditions. This role involves managing patient care plans, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The Acute Medicine Unit focuses on the rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of acutely ill patients, requiring nurses with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to varying patient needs. This position is ideal for a seasoned travel nurse seeking a dynamic environment in a leading healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment plans, for a diverse medical-surgical patient population.
  • Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, lab results, and other diagnostic data, reporting changes to the medical team promptly.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medication regimens, and discharge instructions.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care coordination.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical or Acute Medicine Unit.
  • Ability to travel and reside outside a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Georgia, for the duration of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in patient assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced acute care setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Competency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to operate standard medical equipment relevant to an acute medicine unit.
