Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract position within a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Acute Medicine in Cumming, Georgia. This role involves providing intermediate care to patients who require a higher level of monitoring than a general medical-surgical floor but do not meet the criteria for intensive care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, managing a diverse patient population with various acute medical conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PCU RN to contribute to a dynamic healthcare team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, medication administration, and treatment plans.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic parameters, and other vital signs.
- Manage patients with various medical conditions, including those requiring advanced cardiac monitoring, titratable drips, and respiratory support.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Respond to emergent situations and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Ensure patient safety and maintain a therapeutic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or similar acute care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
