Registered Nurse - Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Atlanta, Georgia. This role is based in a specialized inpatient isolation unit, providing intermediate level of care to a complex patient population.
The successful candidate will be integral to a dedicated team, focusing on patients undergoing bone marrow transplants, cell therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy treatments, and requiring blood product transfusions. This unit is known for its low nurse-to-patient ratios, ensuring high-quality, individualized patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate level nursing care within an inpatient isolation unit setting.
- Administer and monitor specialized treatments including cell therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
- Perform and manage blood product transfusions according to established protocols.
- Care for patients pre- and post-bone marrow transplant procedures.
- Utilize critical thinking and advanced assessment skills to manage complex patient conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or compact state eligibility.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) or a closely related oncology specialty.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Residency outside a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Georgia for travel assignment eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Certification or demonstrated experience in chemotherapy administration.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patient care.
- Expertise in administering cell therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
- Competence in managing blood product transfusions.
- Ability to provide care in an inpatient isolation unit environment.
- Proficiency with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
