Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (RN - ICU)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse for a travel assignment within a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Atlanta, Georgia. This role is ideal for a professional looking to provide high-acuity care to a diverse patient population, specifically within a General Medical Surgical ICU setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, critical care interventions, and collaborative care planning for critically ill patients. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, including vital signs, hemodynamic status, and neurological function.
- Administer medications, blood products, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
- Operate and troubleshoot specialized medical equipment, including ventilators, IV pumps, and cardiac monitors.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records using the Cerner system.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergent situations, initiating life-saving interventions as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia or a compact state license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, direct experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Previous experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Skills: Advanced critical care assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, arterial line insertion/monitoring, central line care, medication titration, emergency response.
- Equipment Proficiency: Ventilators, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, defibrillators, EKG machines, and other standard ICU equipment.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking, strong communication (verbal and written), teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure.

- Hours: Day shifts, 8 hours per shift.
- Days per Week: 5 days per week.
