Registered Nurse - Telemetry Step-Down
Job Summary
Join our dedicated nursing team in Rome, New York, as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Step-Down unit. This role focuses on providing specialized care for adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous monitoring and intermediate-level interventions. You will play a crucial role in managing complex patient conditions and ensuring optimal outcomes within a supportive clinical environment.
As a Telemetry Step-Down RN, you will utilize your expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a high-acuity setting while maintaining a manageable patient load.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Medical Step-Down unit.
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and other vital signs, identifying and responding to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications safely and accurately, including IV drips and complex drug regimens.
Perform thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate their effectiveness.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Adhere to a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring quality care delivery.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a Step-Down or Telemetry unit.
Proficiency in caring for adult and geriatric patient populations.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
