Job Summary
Join the dedicated team at Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) Residential Program, a 60-bed men's substance use disorder rehabilitation facility located in rural Trumansburg, NY. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive direct patient care within a supportive and structured environment focused on recovery.
The Registered Nurse is integral to the daily flow, responsible for observing, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of patients. You will work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted department, ensuring high-quality care for men navigating their recovery journey.
This position emphasizes maintaining 24-hour accountability for patient care quality, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering collaborative relationships with an interdisciplinary team to support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs.
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, including vital signs, risk assessments, and withdrawal assessments (e.g., COWS), in accordance with Part 820 regulations.
- Administer and monitor prescribed medications and treatment regimens.
- Observe, document, and report changes in patient behavior and condition.
- Maintain control and accountability for all drugs and medications.
- Triage emergent medical issues and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team (Nursing Staff, PA, NP, Medical Director) and external providers.
- Maintain accurate, concise, complete, and timely documentation of all patient care activities in appropriate formats.
- Ensure compliance with OASAS and Medicaid regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, direct care staff, counselors, clinical directors, department managers, and compliance manager on quality assessment, assurance, and performance improvement activities.
- Respect and integrate patients' cultural and religious practices into care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience in direct patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-faceted department.
- Proficiency in conducting physical and mental health assessments.
- Knowledge of substance use disorder rehabilitation principles.
