Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Case Management / Nurse Rounds
California | Day Shift | 36 Hours/Week (9-Hour Shifts x 4 Days)
13-Week Travel Contract(Adjust to 12 weeks if preferred)

Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in acute care inpatient case management to join a leading hospital in California. In this high-impact role, you'll partner closely with the Director of Nursing to improve patient flow, reduce length of stay, and support hospital throughput initiatives.

  • 36 hours per week
  • 4 x 9-hour shifts
  • 12-week contract

Pay & Benefits

  • Pay Rate: Up to $2,889/week
  • Competitive hourly taxable pay

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inpatient rounds with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Perform concurrent medical necessity reviews using InterQual and/or Milliman
  • Coordinate discharge planning and identify barriers to timely discharge
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, social workers, and ancillary departments
  • Escalate complex cases impacting patient throughput and length of stay
  • Ensure compliance with utilization management and documentation standards
  • Support quality improvement and cost-containment initiatives

Requirements

  • Active California RN License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital experience (within the last 3 years)
  • Recent Inpatient Case Management experience required
  • Strong discharge planning and care coordination experience
  • Experience performing concurrent medical necessity reviews using InterQual or Milliman
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Previous experience in managed care or an integrated delivery system strongly preferred
  • Current BLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utilization Review experience
  • Throughput or Length of Stay management experience
  • Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic medical record systems
