Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Acute Care
Location: Paramus, NJ
Job Type: Full-Time | Nights
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $115,000 – $139,700 per year, commensurate with experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our acute care team on the night shift. This leadership position is responsible for supporting nursing operations, maintaining high standards of patient care, supervising staff, and collaborating with clinical leadership to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental goals and evaluating progress.
  • Participate in staff selection, hiring, supervision, performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Develop and manage staffing plans and adjust schedules to maintain appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
  • Monitor compliance with professional nursing standards and identify clinical and educational needs.
  • Support staff development, competency improvement, and quality patient care initiatives.
  • Communicate important clinical and operational information through meetings, in-services, and other channels.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement programs and help address patient care concerns.
  • Investigate and communicate unit occurrences and incidents.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Directors and ancillary departments to resolve operational and patient-care issues.
  • Maintain departmental reports, records, and statistical data.
  • Assist with budget planning and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, infection control requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Attend monthly nursing office meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • MSN preferred
  • Current New Jersey RN license
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required
  • IV Therapy Certification required
  • Acute-care nursing and leadership/management experience preferred
