Summary

The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and day-to-day operations of Grand Islander Center. The Administrator ensures that the facility provides high-quality, person-centered care while maintaining compliance with federal and Rhode Island regulations, Genesis HealthCare policies, and applicable standards for skilled nursing and long-term care.

The Administrator provides leadership to clinical and non-clinical departments, oversees financial and operational performance, develops and retains employees, promotes resident and family satisfaction, and works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, residents, families, and the broader community.

Grand Islander provides ShortStay and LongTerm care, memory support, neurological and rehabilitative services, palliative care, wound care, hospice, medication management, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the nursing home and its departments.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, compassionate, and resident-centered care.
  • Maintain compliance with CMS, state Department of Health, federal regulations, licensing requirements, and Genesis policies and procedures .
  • Establish and maintain an effective Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
  • Monitor clinical, operational, financial, and quality outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and other department leaders to ensure appropriate staffing, clinical services, resident care, and regulatory compliance.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain qualified employees.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and promote accountability throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the facility's budget, expenses, census, revenue, labor costs, and other financial performance indicators.
  • Develop strategies to maintain and improve occupancy and referral relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, rehabilitation providers, residents, families, referral sources, and community organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with resident rights, privacy requirements, abuse-prevention requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to resident and family concerns.
  • Participate in regulatory surveys, inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective-action plans.
  • Ensure deficiencies identified through surveys or internal reviews are addressed appropriately and timely.
  • Maintain appropriate emergency preparedness and business-continuity procedures.
  • Monitor employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and quality indicators.
  • Collaborate with medical directors, nurse practitioners, physicians, therapists, social services, dietary, activities, admissions, environmental services, and other departments.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain effective communication with Genesis regional and corporate leadership.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of required reports, documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support the facility's short-term rehabilitation and long-term-care programs.
  • Promote an environment that respects the dignity, independence, preferences, and individual needs of residents.

Genesis specifically states that its compliance program is designed to promote compliance with applicable healthcare laws and regulations and to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.

Qualifications

  • Current Rhode Island Nursing Home Administrator license or eligibility for Rhode Island licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, public health, or a related field preferred.
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, post-acute care, senior living, or healthcare administration .
  • Demonstrated leadership and staff-management experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
  • Experience with facility operations, budgeting, staffing, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of resident-centered care and long-term-care operations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with residents, families, employees, physicians, regulators, and community partners.
  • Ability to analyze financial, clinical, staffing, census, and quality data and develop appropriate action plans.
