Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab

Shift Type: Days, 4x10s (10-hour day shifts); shift length 10 hours; call coverage window 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM when assigned; typically four 10-hour day shifts per week (day shift)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert peri-procedural nursing care in the cardiac cath lab for acute patients
- Prepare patients and cath lab suite for procedures involving stents, balloons and diagnostic peripheral/renal/carotid cases
- Monitor hemodynamics and cardiac rhythm throughout procedures and intervene as needed
- Collaborate with one team and one physician to deliver smooth, efficient case flow (typically 5–7 cases/day)
- Ensure accurate MEDITECH documentation and handoff communication for continuity of care
- Maintain sterile technique, manage lead gear and assist with equipment set-up and troubleshooting
- Educate patients and families on pre- and post-procedure expectations and recovery
Education
- Active RN license required; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cath lab procedures and sterile technique
- Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of ECG/hemodynamics
- Peri-procedural patient assessment and triage
- Use of lead gear and radiation safety principles
- Familiarity with MEDITECH for charting and documentation
- Strong teamwork, communication and time-management skills
- Ability to assist with peripheral, renal and carotid diagnostic cases
Requirements
- Active RN license (ability to work in Texas required)
- Minimum ~3 years of relevant experience in cath lab or acute cardiac care (job lists 3 years)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
- Hands-on experience with cardiac catheterization, stents & balloons, peripheral vascular and renal diagnostic procedures
- Comfortable with lead gear; facility provides lead gear but you may bring your own
- Familiarity with MEDITECH charting system a plus
- Ability to function independently in a basic lab (no CV backup) and support fast-paced case volume
