Job Title: RN - Cardiac Catheterization Lab Staff Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization Lab Duration: 10 weeks Shift: 7A-7P Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR required, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience required Description: Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process in patient care. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Handles the care of and recovery of patients pre/post interventional cardiac procedures. Manages patients with vascular closure devices, including application, maintenance, and removal. Maintains and pulls arterial and/or venous sheaths. Operates ACT machines. Uses Angioseal/Vasoseal devices. Administers minimal sedation as per safety and prevention guidelines. Assists with transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), adhering to safety protocols. Performs the Bubble method as needed when assisting with TEE. Handles pain management and follow-up pain reassessment. Conducts blood draws while using the appropriate order-of-the-draw for labs. Facilitates IV therapy and blood product infusions. Manages information related to synchronized cardioversion and ICDs. Provides pre/post care and recovery for various patients. Procedural Area Responsibilities: Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients in procedural areas. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment specific to procedural areas. Assists with the care and recovery of patients pre/post electrophysiology and interventional radiology procedures. Handles the application, maintenance, removal, and post-care of vascular closure devices. Assists with vascular procedures, including IVC filters, run-offs, and occlusions. Maintains and pulls arterial and/or venous sheaths during procedures. Operates ACT machines. Assists with peripheral balloons and stents. Supports thermodilution and invasive monitoring. Facilitates IVUS and FFR procedures. Assists in electrophysiology procedures and RF ablations. Assists with cryoablations and the insertion of intra-aortic balloon pumps. Monitors and troubleshoots devices, including loop recorders and ICDs. Provides assistance with medical devices like pacemakers (temporary and permanent). Uses synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation. Manages pain assessment and follow-up. Monitors and manages anaphylactic reactions using an anaphylactic kit.
