Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab / EP

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 5x8 Hours (6:45–15:15) Monday–Friday | Occasional late days approximately 4–5 days per month | On-call requirement: one day per week and every fifth weekend

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization lab setting at a 1:1 patient ratio
  • Assist with and circulate procedures including percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), left and right heart catheterizations, IABP placement and removal, and PFO/ASD closures
  • Administer and monitor procedural sedation, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
  • Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs, manage dysrhythmias, monitor activated clotting time (ACT), and perform sheath removal and monitoring
  • Operate specialized equipment including Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Shockwave, Ultrasound, ACIST, and GE Mac Lab system
  • Float within or near the facility as needed and adhere to infection prevention and isolation precaution protocols
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN licensure in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab setting
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Proficiency in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab work settings
  • Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, IV infusion pumps, and starting IVs
  • Competency with documentation and medication systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with advanced procedures such as TAVI/TAVR, Impella insertion, rotablader atherectomy, scrub procedures, and cardiac implant closure devices
  • Familiarity with vascular procedures including angioplasty, upper and lower extremity angiography, and dialysis graft interventions
  • Experience with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose), topical hemostasis agents, and external compression devices
  • Proficiency in ventilator monitoring, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, PICC line care, implanted port maintenance, and central line assistance
